All about Cat Shows

Aside from dogs, cats also have their own shows that happen quite frequently. If you want to know more about this kind of competition, then you might want to take a look at this list of things that you will probably come across if ever you decide to see one.

To begin with, although for the most part cat shows are basically the same as dog shows, there are also a number of differences between them. Probably the most notable difference is the fact that instead of letting them take a walk around the arena floor, the cats are mostly kept on the judging tables throughout the event. Also, instead of only permitting pure breed pets in the competition, mixed breeds are allowed to join.

To continue on, just like any other contest, this event is also divided into categories, namely the championship, premiership, provisional, kitten, miscellaneous, veteran, and the household pet classes. The championship class is probably the most prestigious as only those pets that are not spayed and neutered are allowed while cats that are below the age of around eight months are not permitted to join. A lot of strict rules are also applied. Furthermore, they are not called champions unless they get the first place six times.

Nevertheless, the ones that win this event will usually gain most of the attention from spectators. Also, they typically become more expensive along with their kittens, including their long line of descendants as well. However, it does not stop with that as they are still entitled to continuously join numerous cat shows against other champions to earn points, which could then turn them into grand champions once they have earned 200 points.
